No Umbrella
42x48
oil on canvas

The words on this painting are from a page I found of my daughters.
They talk about a wet coat outside and something about her mom.
Found Light
48x48
oil on canvas

I just finished this painting. It is one of my favorites right now.
There are paintings that come together and others that fight.
This piece came together with such grace, it is such a gift as an artist when this happens.

look at this painting large to really enjoy it

Sweet Song 48x48

I am going to deliver this painting to a good friend of mine.
She commissioned this piece about her family.
The hands are her daughters as well as some of the drawings.
I love that she drew blue birds, I didn't give her any instruction on what to draw.
Her son is two and he did a self portrait on the right.
He also has a small footprint from when he was born.
My friend loves music, this piece is about motherhood and home.

I went to Paris for two weeks with my husband.
This is not the typical tourist picture, it is for me though.
I love crumbly walls and texture and color.
I came home with so much inspiration!

New Day 48x48

Current view 48x48

All I hear on the news is gas prices and the economy, this is my way of dealing with all the negative news. I know what is happening out there, but I choose to let it stay out of my head.
So this lady wears a newspaper on her head.
I want to see all the many beautiful things in the world.

Watching the waves, 48x48

I love this vintage swimming suite!
The red flowers on the side were inspired by my neighbor friend, she is 5.
Children's drawings are the best they have such a fresh quality.

2008

Last week I gave an art talk at Southern Utah University.
I talked about where my artwork began and where it is going.
While preparing for this talk I had the chance to look back at
myself and my work.
This is a self portraite I did in Canada in 1998.
I did this painting as I was struggling to find who I was as an artist.
Was I going to be an figuritive painter or would I alow myself to look
at the possibility of abstraction.
What a turning point that was for me, to look outside of what I knew and was comfortable with and explore.
What a great way to start 2008 by remembering where I started.
